This remarkable animated documentary traces the unconventional upbringing of the filmmaker Jung Henin, one of thousands of Korean children adopted by Western families after the end of the Korean War. It is the story of a boy stranded between two cultures. Animated vignettes – some humorous and some poetic – track Jung from the day he first meet his new blond siblings, through elementary school, and into his teenage years, when his emerging sense of identity begins to create fissures at home and ignite the latent biases of his adoptive parents. The filmmaker tells his story using his own animation intercut with snippets of super-8 family footage and archival film. The result is an animated memoir like no other: clear-eyed and unflinching, humorous, and above all, inspiring in the capacity of the human heart.
This film is a remake of the 1989 Doraemon Movie 10: Nobita no Nippon Tanjou. Nobita and the gang run away from home, traveling back in time to 70,000 years ago before Japan was even born. However, when they bump into a young caveman, Kukuru, who they have accidentally transported forward to their current era, they realize they must take him back to the primitive age. On top of that, they will have to save Kukuru’s tribe, called the Hikari tribe, which was attacked and abducted by the Giganzonbie and Kurayami tribe.

After their space ship is damaged in an asteroid field , 10-year-old Willy is separated from his explorer parents and finds himself alone on a dusty planet with only a cute robot for company in this fun animated adventure. Packed with neat little touches, from a space toothbrush that converts into a knife and a flamethrower, to a cuddly orange alien that bears a resemblance to How To Train Your Dragon’s Toothless, the movie (known as Terra Willy in its native France) follows Willy as he learns to adapt to his new surroundings and the planet’s quirky (and occasionally dangerous) inhabitants. Nicely animated with a sweet story at its heart, this junior space adventure with a really likeable lead character is well worth seeking out.
