Best friends Lizzy (gay and a bit type-A) and Luke (straight and more laid back) are like family. When they were kids and both of their parents were getting divorces, they stuck together, and they’ve been there for each other ever since. Now, all grown up and still single, they’ve decided to start a family of their own. No, not like that (there are some lines even they won’t cross) – we’re talking the non-romantic, go-to-the-doctor’s-office type of baby-making.
Then one night, after yet another failed attempt at conception, the two head out to a bar to let off some steam. That’s where Luke meets Prudence, a free-spirited British girl who’s slated to go back to England in a matter of days. Lizzy isn’t a huge fan – it might have something to do with Prudence waltzing around their apartment naked – but Luke really hits it off with her… and next thing he knows, they’re spending every last minute of her limited time together. But just as Lizzy discovers that she’s actually pregnant, Luke announces that he and Prudence got married. Ta-da! A different kind of family is born.

Peep Show is an award-winning British sitcom starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb. The show’s eighth series makes it the longest-returning comedy in Channel 4 history. Stylistically, the show uses point of view shots with the thoughts of main characters Mark and Jeremy audible as voiceovers.
Peep Show follows the lives of two men from their twenties to thirties, Mark Corrigan, who has steady employment for most of the series, and Jeremy “Jez” Usbourne, an unemployed would-be musician. The pair met at the fictional Dartmouth University, and now share a flat in Croydon, South London. Mark is initially a loan manager at the fictional JLB Credit, later becoming a waiter, and then a bathroom supplies salesman. He is financially secure, but awkward and socially inept, with a pessimistic and cynical attitude. Jeremy, having split up with his girlfriend Big Suze prior to the first episode, now lives in Mark’s spare room. He usually has a much more optimistic and energetic outlook on the world than Mark, yet his self-proclaimed talent as a musician has yet to be recognised, and he is not as popular or attractive as he would like to think himself, although he is more successful with the opposite sex than Mark.
Petticoat Junction is an American situation comedy. The series is one of three interrelated shows about rural characters created by Paul Henning. The characters “seem” to go to Hooterville for some goods and services, including high school and the hospital, but prefer Pixley for supermarket shopping, beauty parlors, and movies.
The petticoat of the title is an old-fashioned garment once worn under a woman’s skirt. The opening titles of the series featured a display of petticoats hanging on the side of the railway’s water tower where the three originally teenage daughters are apparently bathing in the nude or skinny-dipping. In fact, the show’s opening theme contains a hint of sexual innuendo in the line, “Lotsa curves, you bet, and even more when you get to the Junction.” This is an obvious double entendre referring to both the train tracks and the Bradley daughters. However, as Linda Kaye states on the official season one DVD set, the name of the town Hooterville was not a reference to the slang term “hooters” meaning breasts, because that term was unheard of in the 1960s.
