In the Heat of the Night is an American television series based on the motion picture and novel of the same name starring Carroll O’Connor as the white police chief William Gillespie, and Howard Rollins as the African-American police detective Virgil Tibbs. It was broadcast on NBC from 1988 until 1992, and then on CBS until 1995. Its executive producers were Fred Silverman, Juanita Bartlett and Carroll O’Connor. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman is a live-action American television series based on the characters in Superman and Action. Lois & Clark starred Dean Cain as Superman/Clark Kent and Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane, and aired on ABC from September 12, 1993 to June 14, 1997.
Developed for television by Deborah Joy LeVine, the series loosely follows the philosophy of then-Superman writer John Byrne: Clark Kent is the true personality and Superman a disguise. It premiered in the summer on June 5, 2012 and ended on July 31, 2012. On August 17, 2012, ABC Family announced that the show was canceled.
