Jules has just inherited a quaint Christmas tree farm bequeathed her by her grandmother. This is good news, since she plans to sell it and use the profits to buy her dream home in the city. The farm needs a bit of sprucing up, but Jules is a natural fixer so she’ll have it cleaned up in no time to impress buyers and be out by Christmas. But the longer Jules stays on the farm and the more she learns how important Christmas Land has been to so many families, the more Jules starts to question her motives to sell. And when the perfect buyer turns out to have ulterior motives for the farm, Jules must do whatever it takes to save Christmas Land.

When brash Texas border officer Mike Norton (Barry Pepper) wrongfully kills and buries the friend and ranch hand of Pete Perkins (Tommy Lee Jones), the latter is reminded of a promise he made to bury his friend, Melquiades Estrada (Julio Cesar Cedillo), in his Mexican home town. He kidnaps Norton and exhumes Estrada’s corpse, and the odd caravan sets out on horseback for Mexico. As Estrada’s body begins to rot, Norton begins to unravel, but Perkins remains determined to honor his vow.
It is Midsummer’s Eve and ten people are on a deserted castle for a TV recording. The next morning the program leader is shot dead. Kvällspressens Annika Bengtzon a mandate to monitor the murder, but she soon learns that her best friend Anne Snapphanevägen is one of the ten suspects. When the police released all one after another – all except Anne – it becomes personal for Bengtzon who will do anything to exonerate her friend.
Chen Zhen, a Chinese engineering student in Kyoto, who braves the insults and abuse of his Japanse fellow students for his local love Mitsuko Yamada, daughter of the director, returns in 1937 to his native Shangai, under Japanse protectorate -in fact military occupation- after reading about the death of his kung-fu master Hou Ting-An in a fight against the Japanese champion Ryuichi Akutagawa.
Not being able to stand his drunken father and stepmother any longer, Tsog runs away from home and hides on the roof of an apartment building in the city. One day, he is mesmerized by Anu, a beautiful woman who lives on the top floor of the apartment building across from him. He buys a remote control to start watching her TV, and it makes the physical space between Tsog and Anu disappear. Well, at least it does in Tsog’s imagination. He comes to think about what the world would be like if he could change it with the touch of a button. The difference between ideals and reality is also seen through Tsog and Anu’s dream of flying and fear of heights. And Anu’s belief that she could overcome her fear if only she had someone to fly with runs an interesting parallel with Tsog’s loneliness from being estranged from his family.
In Paris, Sophie and Daneel make a solid couple. Nothing, it seems, can separate them – until the day when Sophie tells her partner she has organised a surprise trip to Bulgaria. Daneel refuses to go, but Sophie insists and soon discovers just why her soul mate was so reluctant to set foot in the country…
