Mongrels, formerly known under the working titles of We Are Mongrels and The Un-Natural World, is a British puppet-based situation comedy series first broadcast on BBC Three between 22 June and 10 August 2010, with a making-of documentary entitled “Mongrels Uncovered” broadcast on 11 August 2010. A second series of Mongrels began airing on 7 November 2011.

The series revolves around the lives of five anthropomorphic animals who hang around the back of a pub in Millwall, the Isle of Dogs, London. The characters are Nelson, a metrosexual fox; Destiny, an Afghan hound; Marion, a “borderline-retarded” cat; Kali, a grudge-bearing pigeon; and Vince, Nelson’s friend, a sociopathic foul-mouthed fox.

For example, the first episode begins with a scene in which Marion, portrayed as desperately trying to revive his deceased owner, learns she has actually been dead for four months, whereupon he casually gives his cat friends permission to eat her. Mongrels has attracted accusations of plagiarism, with claims that Mongrels stole ideas from a similar Channel 4 show called Pets.

Phil of the Future is an American sitcom that originally aired on Disney Channel from June 18, 2004 to August 19, 2006 for a total of two seasons. The series was created by Tim Maile and Douglas Tuber and produced by 2121 Productions, a part of Brookwell McNamara Entertainment. It follows a family from the future that gets stranded in the 21st century when their time machine breaks down. The series returns to the US on May 9, 2013 as part of Disney Channel: Throwback Thursday. It also currently airs in select countries such as Canada.

Conan is a late-night talk show airing each Monday through Thursday on TBS in the United States. The hourlong show premiered on November 8, 2010, and is hosted by writer, comedian and performer Conan O’Brien. The program’s host previously starred on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien for 16 years, then presented The Tonight Show for seven months until Jay Leno’s return to his version of The Tonight Show due to the 2010 Tonight Show conflict.

Describing itself as a traditional late-night talk show, Conan draws its comedy from recent news stories, political figures and prominent celebrities, as well as aspects of the show itself. The show typically opens with a monologue from Conan O’Brien relating to recent headlines and frequently features exchanges with his sidekick, Andy Richter, and members of the audience. In January 2010, after The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien had been on the air for seven months, it was announced that NBC intended to move Jay Leno from primetime back to his original timeslot, with O’Brien’s show starting shortly after midnight. Following a brief conflict, NBC announced that they had paid $45 million to buy out O’Brien’s contract, ending his relationship with the network. Months after his official leave, O’Brien went on a comedy tour called The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour, which was largely inspired by the outpouring of support for O’Brien on the Internet during the conflict. The Lion King’s Timon & Pumbaa, often simply referred to as Timon & Pumbaa, is an animated comedy television series made by the Walt Disney Company. Good Eats is a television cooking show, created and hosted by Alton Brown, which aired in North America on Food Network and Cooking Channel. Likened to television science educators Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye, Brown explores the science and technique behind the cooking, the history of different foods, and the advantages of different kinds of cooking equipment. The show tends to focus on familiar dishes that can easily be made at home, and also features segments on choosing the right appliances, and getting the most out of inexpensive, multi-purpose tools. Each episode of Good Eats has a distinct theme, which is typically an ingredient or a certain cooking technique, but may also be a more general theme such as Thanksgiving. In the tenth anniversary episode, Alton Brown stated that the show was inspired by the idea of combining Julia Child, Mr. Wizard, and Monty Python. On May 11, 2011, Alton Brown announced that the series would come to a close, ending production at episode 249.
